I met Kelsey a couple years when we were both living in Grand Rapids. We became friends over taco nights, beach days, and winter-time hikes. She is a quick-witted woman, who thinks critically about the world around her, and has encouraged me to do the same. She moved to Oakland last fall, and it's been such a treat to have another Michigan girl living nearby in the Bay.
A few weeks ago, we spent a morning at her house eating homemade scones, listening to Beyoncé and Rih-Rih, and talking about lady things. It isn't often that we take the time, as humans or as women, to step back from the noise around us and just be. To appreciate who we are, the bodies we live in, the things we are capable of. So our morning was spent in admiration of just that.
