Aimee and Brandon // Fall Wedding at Nature

Ever since the fall equinox last week, we’ve had weather that is entirely fitting for the season. While I am still hopeful that we’ll get a few more warm, sunny days, I am enjoying the shift. The air is cool and I’ve enjoyed waking up to the sound of rain. Autumn’s arrival always takes me back to previous years, something I love about the seasonal calendar. Each year is different but the seasons are the same. The crisp air smells like a memory, and it takes me back to falling in love or driving to the U.P. for the first time with my now-husband. It creates an urge for two-tracking down my favorite dirt roads as the fall color peaks.

We are still a few weeks away from full fall color, but I thought I would share a favorite autumn wedding from 2020. This was during the height of the pandemic, and Aimee and Brandon decided that rather than wait to throw a huge wedding, they wanted to get married now, and celebrate with just their immediate families. What followed was one of the most heartfelt weddings I have experienced. Their ceremony took place in the trees as a soft rain fell, and their siblings and nieces and nephews sipped hot cider to stay warm. They sat close to their family members during dinner and danced the night away at one of the best dance parties I have ever witnessed. It was such a pleasure to photograph this day, and I am loving the memory of it today, another fall day that brings me right back to these moments.

Incredible event design was by Conradie Event Design, who created the most beautiful fall scene for this celebration.
