Where even to begin with Ashley and Iain’s wedding? It was a day like none-other, which is a lot coming from someone who is around weddings every single weekend. Their wedding was held at a CSA farm just outside of Chicago in late October, in a place that they both cared deeply about. They wanted their wedding day to be different, and it was clear from spending time getting to know them that their love was different than the normal. More tangible, in some way.

Their intimate ceremony in front of the farm’s greenhouses was touching. Rather than a traditional entrance of Ashley being walked down the aisle by her father, both Ashley and Iain were escorted in by both of their parents, and when Ashley walked down the aisle Iain met her halfway. Rather than one of them take the other’s last name, they condensed their last names into one- symbolizing the creation of a new family unit. Their vows were incredibly heartfelt, the readings chosen for the ceremony entirely unique. A friend read the love story of Carl Sagan and his wife Annie, which is an incredibly moving story (especially for all the science nerds out there).

Each part of the day was filled with thought and intentionality, which is exactly what every interaction with Ashley and Iain is like. The amount of love and emotion that was tangibly present on the farm that day cannot be quantified. You can see glimpses of it in the images, feel the joy and love in the moments that were captured, and it is such an honor to be able to share photos from such a magic day. These images are some of my proudest, because they tell the story of a love for the books.
